'Indian community will never trust Najib again'

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak cheated the Indian community by not abiding with the memorandum of understanding he signed with Persatuan Hindraf Malaysia (PHM) and he will therefore not be trusted again, PHM secretary P Ramesh said today.

Ramesh then went on to describe MIC Youth chief P Punithan's statement that the Indian voters will swing back to the BN in Saturday's Teluk Intan parliamentary by-election as "a joke".

"The MIC must be living in hallucination to have come out with such a bizarre statement in the week leading to the Teluk Intan by-election.

"The Indians in Malaysia have not forgotten the fact that the BN has blatantly cheated the Indian community by not fulfilling their promises in the 13th general election, after signing the MOUwith PHM.

"During the signing ceremony, Najib openly apologised to the Indian community for the government's  neglect towards the Indian community and admitted something serious has to be done to improve the conditions," Ramesh said in a statement.

Less than a year after signing the MOU, a five-year blueprint for the progress of the Indian Malaysian community, the prime minister breached the trust placed upon the agreement, he said.

The MIC, he added, was supposed to represent the Indian community, but it has clearly failed and the community had lost faith in the party.

"The people no longer respect MIC. In fact, their leaders are seen as self-serving people who have neglected the Indian community.

"The Indian community can never be taken for a ride again with such empty promises and MIC can forever be a running dog of Umno and BN, but that does not mean the Indian community will support BN."

Ramesh added that the MIC could carry on hallucinating with its "operasi jejak" and "operasi  jelas" but the point is that the BN has cheated the Indian community and now there is even anger with the coalition.

Ramesh had previously asked BN to declare that it admits it will not abide by the memorandum that it signed with PHM.
