Batu Caves in Gombak, Selangor, is enshrouded in smoke from a forest fire that broke out this morning.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Mohd Sani Harul said firemen were still working to put out the fire in the limestone hill, near Kampung Sri Gombak.
"The operation to put out the fire is still ongoing and when it will end would depend on the situation, as the area is quite big."
He said the fire was under control, however, and no casualties had been reported so far.
More than 100 firefighting personnel from five fire stations are working in the operation to extinguish the fire. A water tanker has also been despatched to the area of forest about 60m up the limestone hill.
The blaze was reported at about 10.30am today by villagers living nearby.
The fire is believed to have been due to the hot, dry weather.
