The fear of being arrested after soliciting and accepting bribe led a member of the People's Volunteer Corps (Rela), who posed as an immigration officer, to ram his car into a Negri Sembilan Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) vehicle.
In the 5.30pm incident yesterday, the 38-year-old suspect, who drove a Proton Wira Aeroback, was later arrested at a parking lot in a shopping complex in Seremban 2.
Negri Sembilan MACC director Datuk Shaharom Nizam Abd Manap said the suspect had solicited a bribe of RM2,000 from a 37-year-old furniture trader, who only gave him RM800.
"The bribe was given to avoid action taken against the trader's Pakistani worker who abused his work permit.
"The suspect received RM500 the day before and received another RM300 yesterday."
He said the case was being investigated under the MACC Act 2009. – Bernama
