Amendments to the National Security Council (NSC) Bill should be done quickly for the good of the country, said Dewan Negara president Abu Zahar Ujang.
He said the purpose of introducing the Bill was very good, especially in terms of addressing the threat of terrorism in the country but it should be refined so as not to raise questions from any party, including the opposition.
"I support the recommendation of the Conference of Rulers which wants the bill to be scrutinised.
"Some amendments need be made without wasting any time, for the good of the country," he told Bernama after attending a programme in Jempol, today.
He was commenting on the NSC Bill - which was approved by both the houses in Parliament in December last year - to be brought back for discussion after the meeting of the Conference of Rulers on Feb 17 believed there were some provisions in the Bill which needed to be refined.
The amendment seeks to provide 15 special powers for the establishment of the NSC, as well as for security forces to control and coordinate security operations in locations deemed security risks.
