The State Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumer Affairs Ministry has listed 15 items under the Festive Season Price Control Scheme in conjunction with Christmas 2016.
These items are live chicken, standard chicken (slaughtered and cleaned chicken with feet, head, liver and gizzard or any part thereof), super chicken, live aged chicken, imported turkey, imported boned thigh mutton, imported boned meat mutton, Grade A, Grade B and Grade C chicken eggs, tomatoes, green capsicums, pork (belly) and pork (meat and fats).
State ministry chief enforcement officer Abdul Hafiz Abdul Rahim said the scheme would remain in force from Dec 19 to 29.
He said it was compulsory for traders not to sell price-controlled items above the fixed ceiling price.
In addition, he said, traders are required to put red coloured price tags on the controlled items to distinguish them from other goods and to display price tags on all items.
He said if traders were found to have not complied with the scheme, customers can lodge a complaint to the ministry.
