Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu believes that the prime minister's wish to call for general election soon may become an empty statement.
"If the bad prediction of economic becomes reality early next year, then Najib Abdul Razak will cancel his ambition in silently attacking the opposition.
"Thus, his dream to dissolve Parliament in the first quarter of 2017, ie dissolve before May 2017, will only become an empty statement," he said at the party convention held in Shah Alam today.
Najib had indicated the 14th general election would be held soon, without giving a date.
At his keynote address at Amanah's convention today, Mohamad, who is fondly known as Mat Sabu described the 2017 Budget as "murukku budget" that was not able to address the rising living cost.
