‘Molest’ of model: Shell to remove standee at its stations

This follows pictures of men engaging in distasteful acts with the cardboard figures at petrol stations.
KUALA LUMPUR: The life-size promotional standee of a woman, placed at Shell retail stations, will be removed with immediate effect.
This follows the circulation of pictures of several individuals photographed engaging in distasteful and suggestive behaviour with the promotional standee.
Shell, in a statement, said they were aware of this.
“We do not condone the disrespectful acts, which are completely against the culture of Malaysians and Shell’s core values.
“We urge netizens and members of the public to refrain from sharing these images further.
“The standee will be removed from all our sites with immediate effect,” it said in the statement.
Nor Shafila Khairusalleh, 25, who is a Shell employee, who had become the face of the standee, had recently expressed her disappointment over the actions of some men kissing and holding her private parts, while taking pictures with the standee.
The woman had been caught off guard and embarassed by these actions, even if they had only been done to her poster.
Netizens were similarly angered over these acts, stating this was also a form of harassment.
Many had felt that the actions of the individuals were undignified and brought shame to the model, her family and her relatives. -FMT
