PAS to send memo to Agong on 1MDB RCI

PAS will submit a memorandum to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong seeking a Royal Commission of Inquiry on the 1MDB issue, said its Kuala Nerus MP Khairudin Aman Razali.
"As citizens, we urge the government to immediately form an RCI to investigate allegations of leakages in 1MDB funds," he said in a statement.
He also urged Malaysians not to jump the gun over the United States of America's Department of Justice's investigations, which he said, smears Malaysia.
"Don't expect justice from a country which has been proven to be unjust to Muslims on the world stage, like in the Palestine and Iraq issue.
"We must consider why the US is acting like the world's police. Our domestic matters must be resolved internally without involving outsiders," Khairuddin said.
PAS has in the past few days repeatedly called for an RCI, especially in clarifying its stand against US investigations of 1MDB.
This is after PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang received public backlash for condemning "foreign intervention" by the DOJ, which filed a civil forfeiture action to seize more than US$1 billion of assets it said were bought in the US with money stolen from 1MDB.
Commenting further, Khairuddin added that BN's rule has been peppered with scandals including the foreign exchange scandal involving losses of tens of millions of ringgit during Dr Mahathir Mohamad's time as premier.
He said this is because the BN government has not practised Islamic principles in its governance.
"Governments which do not refer to Islam will be plagued with all sorts of strife and scandal because the governments are managed by those who have no consideration of heaven and hell."

He said this is why PAS stressed the need for Islamic governance including in finance to avoid usury, corruption and leakages.
"Taxation policies like the GST is also a transgression, just like turning out backs on the Islamic penal code to the extent that crime like theft, robbery and rape are widespread," he said.
"Don't just fight corruption but also other transgressions, including neglecting Islamic laws," he said, in reference to the implementation of the hudud long championed by PAS.  - Mkini
