PETALING JAYA: Raja Kamarul Bahrin of Amanah has slammed an aide to the housing and local government minister, saying the aide was rude for chastising a health expert over criticism about public sanitisation exercises.
Raja Kamarul said he was stunned that Nor Hizwan Ahmad, the political secretary to Zuraida Kamaruddin, had the gall to reprimand the likes of Dr Adeeba Kamarulzaman.
“As a political secretary, Nor Hizwan Ahmad does not possess the knowledge of experts like Dr Adeeba, who is a member of the World Health Organization science council,” he said in a statement.
He added that Adeeba’s stance on sanitisation of public facilities was backed by two other health experts.
In defending the ministry’s public sanitisation exercises, Nor Hizwan had singled out Adeeba telling her to focus on Selangor, where the highest number of Covid-19 cases are recorded every day.
Adeeba is also part of the Selangor Covid-19 task force.
“Let’s work together to find a way out because now is not the time to find fault with anyone,” Nor Hizwan was quoted as saying after Adeeba, an infectious diseases expert, said public sanitisation was a waste of resources.
Raja Kamarul, the former deputy housing and local government minister, went on to say that when one is faced with limited funds and manpower, it was vital to “work smart and not just hard”.
