PETALING JAYA: Some retired civil servants will only be receiving half of their gratuity payment during the movement control order period, the Public Services Department said today.
A notice by the Pensions Division posted two days ago said half-payments would continue until the department or Retirement Fund Incorporated (KWAP) can confirm whether retirees had any debts with the government.
In a Facebook post two days ago, the division said retirees’ gratuity payments would be made once it was confirmed that they did not have any debts.
It added that confirmation on the matter was normal procedure though some challenges had surfaced for the relevant agencies during the MCO.
“As all are aware, during the MCO, some staff have been forced to quarantine, others have tested positive for Covid-19, while movement to the office is limited in compliance with the percentage of workforce allowed.
“We also believe that there are certain tasks that cannot be completed from home,” it said.
It assured pensioners that payments would be made swiftly once confirmations are obtained, saying many have already received their full gratuity. - FMT
