PETALING JAYA: The dire situation of the economy was on display outside the service centre of an MP, who said today he has been overwhelmed with the number of people seeking aid there after losing jobs or pay cuts.
Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said it shows the situation on the ground was getting from bad to worse.
“They said they do not have anywhere else to go. Most of them are jobless or face pay cuts,” he wrote on his Twitter handle.
Despite the long line, Syed Saddiq said: “I will never leave them standing alone.”
The MUDA co-founder added that he will do all that he can to help his constituents.
Yesterday, Syed Saddiq said he had collected slightly over RM232,000 in donations for his Must Sejiwa special aid programme.
The package, he had said previously, was to ensure no one in Muar goes hungry during the total lockdown implemented since June 1.
Under the programme, he said 1,000 families will be given food baskets, and assistance to register for vaccination, with transport services to get vaccinated in Johor Bahru. - FMT
