PETALING JAYA: Marriage solemnisation (akad nikah) ceremonies will be allowed at the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) and all district Islamic religious offices (PAID) in the state from July 1.
In a Facebook posting yesterday, JAIS said only couples who have obtained appointment dates from the department and PAID will be allowed to hold their ceremonies, with attendance limited to the groom, bride and the wali. Other individuals including photographers are not allowed.
The department said the couples must also have permission to hold the ceremonies in accordance with Section 17 of the Islamic Family Law Enactment (State of Selangor) 2003 before June 1, besides ensuring their HIV result tests are still valid.
The concerned couple and the wali are also required to undergo Covid-19 RT-PCR tests three days ( 72 hours) before the ceremony, and must show the results of the tests to the registrar prior to the ceremony.
All current SOPs under the movement control order must also be complied with as well, JAIS said.
The chief registrar for marriage and divorces or religious administration officer may postpone or cancel a solemnisation ceremony if any of the SOPs are breached and requirements are not fulfilled. - FMT
