Johor Pakatan Harapan is pushing for more vaccination centres (PPV) in the state amid complaints Covid-19 vaccine recipients have to make long-distance trips to get their shots.
The state chapter of the opposition coalition pointed out that some people have to travel as far as 60km round trip in order to get vaccinated.
"For example, the absence of a PPV in Labis means people have to make a 60km round-trip journey to the PPV in Segamat.
"Likewise, people in Yong Peng must travel to the PPV in Batu Pahat, Paloh people need to travel to the PPV in Kluang, Gemas Baharu to the PPV at the Buloh Kasap multipurpose hall which all take around 60km round trip," it said in a joint statement.
The statement was signed by Johor PKR chief Ibrahim Syed Noh, Johor DAP chief Liew Chin Tong and Johor Amanah chief Aminolhuda Hassan, who is also the Johor opposition leader and state Harapan chief.
"This situation is causing hardship to the people. There are those who have already received their vaccine appointments but cannot turn up.
"Johor Harapan reiterates for more PPV to be set up in the state to help increased the vaccination rate," they said.
They noted Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin's announcement of a pilot project to test Covid-19 vaccination mobile units in Kuala Lumpur and favoured the same approach in Johor. - Mkini
