This is typical opposition mentality. They whack you when you do, and they also whack you when you don’t. Both ways you get whacked. And this man from the Singapore side of the Johor “royal family” has been attacking the Raja-Raja Melayu since ages. But then is this not normal for those who feel they are the legitimate heir to the throne and that the throne has been stolen from them?
NO HOLDS BARRED
Raja Petra Kamarudin
“ACID TEST FOR HIS MAJESTY AND HIS BROTHER RULERS”, screamed the headlines in the blog run by Tengku Putra Haron Aminurrashid Tengku Abdul Hamid Jumat (READ THE BLOG POSTING HERE).
Tengku Putra Haron is anti-monarchy despite his “royal” lineage.
Tengku Putra Haron’s father, Tengku Abdul Hamid Jumat, was once a member of the Singapore Legislative Assembly and Singapore’s first Malay cabinet minister. Tengku Abdul Hamid was the founder of UMNO Singapore and served as Deputy Chief Minister in Lim Yew Hock’s cabinet and was the first Singaporean ambassador to Germany.
The relationship between the Singapore side of the royal family and the Johor side of the royal family is very complicated. The fact that the ruling family of Johor is “Tunku” while the Singapore side is “Tengku” reveals much, which those outside the royal circle would not understand.
Suffice to say there is a lot of politics in the Istana, and those not in line to the throne would like to discredit those who are. They also question the legitimacy of the ruling family and would like to paint a picture that they are usurpers to the throne.
Tengku Putra Haron has previously clashed with His Majesty the Sultan of Johor and this was reported by The Star on 15th October 2020:
On 15th June 2018, The Sun Daily reported the following:
The outcome of the 14th general election is a wake-up call not only for Barisan Nasional (BN) but for the monarchy, and the rulers must conduct themselves accordingly as clearly enshrined in the Federal Constitution, said former Kempas assemblyman Datuk Tengku Putra Haron Aminurrashid Tengku Abdul Hamid Jumat.
In a statement, today, Tengku Putra Haron Aminurrashid said this was due to people’s scrutiny of the monarchy as it failed to heed advice to stay away from politics and business.
While the BN government had been generous in their respect and appreciation for the Palace, the Johor Umno member said he had always advised the palace to stay away from politics and business to avoid the abuse of power and possible backlash by the people. (READ MORE HERE).
Today, in his blog posting, Tengku Putra Haron said:
In addition, anger has crossed beyond strict boundaries where Malaysians have started to criticise the King for the “failure” of the “Darurat” to meet its original objective, except perhaps to help the current administration hold on to its power. That has become the general perception.
Since then, while the government was incurring the wrath of the people, many started looking to the Institution for remedy and sought for democracy to take its course returning it to the people. The pressure is mounting.
Today, let me not mince my words and state the obvious that the Malays form the large majority of the Rakyat that are still loyal to the Institution of the Monarchy. It is however dwindling by the day especially in urban districts in view of the current events and open forums.
What the Palace decides in the days to come will determine the level of respect they can command later from their subjects. (READ MORE HERE)
It looks like the anti-monarchy Tengku Putra Haron whacked the Raja-Raja Melayu in 2018 for allegedly interfering in the running of the country and, today, he whacks the Raja-Raja Melayu for NOT interfering in the running of the country.
