PETALING JAYA: It is opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim’s turn tomorrow to be questioned over the gathering of opposition MPs at the Dataran Merdeka on Monday.
Sources said police are expected to meet the Port Dickson MP at the PKR headquarters in Tropicana Square at 11am where his statement will be recorded.
When contacted, his lawyer SN Nair confirmed the appointment and said he would be there to accompany the PKR president during the questioning.
Earlier today, five opposition MPs had their statements recorded at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters. They were Ipoh Barat MP M Kula Segaran, Saifuddin Nasution Ismail (Kulim-Bandar Bharu), Mahfuz Omar (Pokok Sena), Salahuddin Ayub (Pulai) and Gobind Singh Deo (Puchong).
On Aug 4, six opposition MPs had their statements recorded, also at the Dang Wangi police station, while three more MPs did so yesterday.
On Monday, opposition MPs tried to march to Parliament to demand that the special sitting be resumed, even though it had been postponed on the advice of the health ministry following the detection of positive Covid-19 cases in the Dewan Rakyat. - FMT
