Noor Hisham: Perlis has highest infectivity rate

KUALA LUMPUR: Perlis has the highest infectivity rate (Rt) in the country as of yesterday.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Perlis recorded an Rt value of 1.31 that was higher than the national average that stood at 1.04.

Selangor recorded an Rt value of 1.0 while Labuan reported an Rt value of zero.

Dr Noor Hisham said, the ministry also detected 38 new Covid-19, with 22 of them being workplace clusters, the remaining 14 were community clusters and another two were educational clusters.

Among the workplace clusters, the Jalan Damai Raya construction site cluster in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, contributed the highest number of infections (185 positive cases).

Among the community clusters, the Lorong Teruntum cluster in Kuching, Sarawak accounted for the highest number of infections (115 cases).

Both educational clusters reported today involved the Bachok and Kota Bharu districts in Kelantan with the Kampung Pantai Melawi cluster reporting 26 cases and the Taman Bayam Baru cluster logging 13 cases. - NST
