PH rejects Muhyiddin’s ‘insincere offers’

PETALING JAYA: The Pakatan Harapan (PH) presidential council has rejected the “insincere offers” made by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, saying they shouldn’t have come when he is supposedly at the end of his political life.

They also slammed him for assuming that no other leader commands parliamentary majority support, stating that this was a matter for the King to decide.

“This is the first time in the history of Malaysia that a prime minister has admitted to losing majority support but yet openly continues to solicit support from the opposition,” they said.

“Pakatan Harapan has taken a stand to firmly push aside all the insincere offers that Tan Sri (Muhyiddin) should have made earlier, rather than at the end of his political life,” PH said in a statement.

The statement was signed by PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.

In a televised address today, Muhyiddin proposed a number of reforms should he win September’s confidence vote.

These included term limits for prime ministers, resources for the opposition leader equivalent to those of a senior Cabinet minister, and immediately lowering the voting age to 18 without the implementation of automatic voter registration.
