KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin seven-point proposal for bipartisan cooperation has been described as bold and honest, sending a clear message to those who wanted to assassinate his character that their plan has failed.
Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) information chief Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan in a statement said the ongoing political squabbles would only be detrimental to the people amid the pandemic.
"Now is the time for all parties to be on the same side, pulling their efforts together to ensure that we win in our battle against the pandemic," he said.
"Bersatu fully support the proposal made by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for a bipartisan cooperation between parties."
Meanwhile, president of SME Association of Malaysia Michael Kang described the announcement by the prime minister as a step in the right direction for the country, amid the pandemic.
"What businesses want is the stability in government so that we can focus on overcoming the pandemic and recovery of the economy.
"So if politicians can work hand-in-hand and focus on the recovery, that will really help businesses. Then they (politicians) can continue their fight in the general elections next year.
"Otherwise, it's hard for us to plan for the recovery with all this uncertainty," he said. - NST
