Record high Covid-19 deaths in Sabah today

 

Masidi Manjun said most of the deaths occurred in the state capital of Kota Kinabalu with 19 deaths, followed by Sandakan with five and Tuaran with four.

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has registered a record high of 41 Covid-19 deaths reported over the last 24 hours.

It was a huge jump from the last recorded high of 28 deaths on Aug 12. Of the 41 deaths, 17 involved brought-in-dead (BID) cases, including eight foreigners, which is also a record high for the state.

This brings the death toll in Sabah to 1,042.

Sabah local government and housing minister Masidi Manjun said most of the deaths occurred in the state capital with 19, followed by Sandakan (5), Tuaran (4), three cases each in Penampang and Keningau, two cases each in Beaufort, Lahad Datu and Kalabakan, and one in Tenom.

He said daily infections in the state have gone down slightly but are still above the 3,000 mark, with 3,010 cases recorded over the past one day. This is 477 fewer cases compared to yesterday’s numbers.

This means the total number of cases is now 137,527, with 35,842 still active.

There are 272 patients in the intensive care unit while another 76 require respiratory assistance. - FMT
