PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has paid tribute to his wife, Muhaini Zainal Abidin, for standing by him all these years, through good times and bad.
In a Facebook post, Ismail shared a photo of Muhaini fastening the button of his Baju Melayu prior to his swearing-in at Istana Negara yesterday, with a caption on his wife who he calls Nani.
“My wife has been by my side since I got to know her when I was 19. I entered politics in 1986 at the age of 26 and only then started a family.”
He described his wife as a simple person who shied away from the spotlight.
“Thank you, Nani, for always being by my side, from when I was nothing to (who I am) today.”
Ismail was appointed the country’s 9th prime minister following Muhyiddin Yassin’s resignation on Monday. -FMT
