In Politics, The Truth Does Not Matter

They say the previous Perikatan Nasional government is “Kerajaan Gagal”. Forty days ago the government changed but nothing else has changed. But the current government, also a Perikatan Nasional government, is not “Kerajaan Gagal”. Why?

NO HOLDS BARRED

Raja Petra Kamarudin

Pakatan Harapan claims the moral high ground and allege they are fighting for truth and justice. That statement itself is not true because truth and justice are not absolutes but subjective.

For example, there are thousands of religions, if you include the denominations, and all claim to be the true word of God. How can many different religions be the true word of God, especially if they contradict one another?

Muslims will claim that only Islam is the true religion and that the Qur’an came from God. To the Muslims this is the truth, but non-Muslims will disagree. Hence truth is subjective and is only true to the eyes of the beholder but will be the untruth to others.

Justice, as well, is subjective. Muslims will insist that justice means implementing God’s laws, such as the Sharia, while denying someone God’s laws is a terrible injustice. Many will disagree with that and will say that Islamic laws are extremely cruel and unjust.

Hence there is no such thing as fighting for truth and justice, as Pakatan Harapan claims, because truth and justice mean different things to different people.

In politics, the truth does not matter. What matters is what you believe. And most times what you believe is based on perception. And you cling to faith, not to evidence, based on this perception. Actually, you use the word faith to mean lack of evidence.

Let’s look at another example. I was born in London to Muslim parents, and I was sent to religious and Qur’an classes. Hence, I grew up to become ‘a believer’, meaning a Muslim.

Let’s say I was born in Dublin to Catholic parents, and I was sent to Sunday school and Bible classes. Would I still be a Muslim, or would I instead be a Catholic and most likely active in the IRA?

In both situations, I believe because I was raised and taught to believe, and the truth depends on how I have been educated and indoctrinated — demonstrating again that the truth is not absolute but subjective.

In politics, the truth is not important. What is important is what people believe to be the truth. So the better spinner wins the hearts and minds of the people. You need to convince people that you are fighting for justice and that what you are telling them is the truth.

The Umno activists successfully convince the people that they are telling the truth even though they are merely twisting facts. The same goes for the PKR and DAP cybertroopers, a.k.a. the Red Bean Army. They use the Nazi doctrine that if you repeat the lie many times, and if many people tell that same lie, it eventually becomes the truth.

They say the previous Perikatan Nasional government is “Kerajaan Gagal”. Forty days ago the government changed, but nothing else has changed. But the current government, also a Perikatan Nasional government, is not “Kerajaan Gagal”. Why?

That is because they kept repeating the “Kerajaan Gagal” mantra many times and many people kept chanting this mantra, so people believed it. It is just like what the Nazis did in Germany in the 1930s that in the end the entire Germany believed what was said about the Jews. Now, however, they no longer repeat the “Kerajaan Gagal” mantra — hence it is not “Kerajaan Gagal”.

The anti-Muhyiddin Yassin group both in Pakatan Harapan and Umno applied the same tactics as the Nazis, which resulted in 60 million deaths. And how clever the Germans may be, that still did not prevent them from being duped by propaganda and lies. So what do you expect from Malaysians who have very low intellectual skills and zero analytical skills? They will swallow anything you tell them.

Truth, on Malaysians, is wasted. You just need to tell them what they like to hear, not what is true. If truth was what they wanted, then 100% of Malaysians would be Muslims, instead of just 61.3%. After all, is not Islam the true religion and the Qur’an the true word of God…as far as what Muslims believe?
