DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang has been summoned for police questioning tomorrow over his alleged participation in a gathering of MPs outside Parliament early last month.
The Iskandar Puteri MP was called in by the police along with Kluang MP Wong Shu Qi, whose police questioning was initially on Sept 8 but has been postponed to tomorrow.
According to a media notice sent out by Wong, her appointment with the police is at 2.45pm while Lim is to meet the police at 4pm.
Opposition MPs had gathered at Dataran Merdeka on Aug 2 in a bid to enter Parliament even though the Muhyiddin Yassin government at the time had postponed the parliamentary sitting.
Muhyiddin’s government, which has since collapsed, was seen to be stalling the Parliament sitting but it had cited the Covid-19 pandemic as justification.
Wong previously said she was not present during the gathering and had only gone to Parliament to carry out her duty as a member of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) which had a meeting that day.
“I was surprised by the police notice that I was allegedly involved in the gathering when I was not even at the claimed location nor involved in any gathering,” she had said. - Mkini
