DAY 5 | It’s the fifth day of the Nenggiri by-election campaign.
BN candidate Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani and Perikatan Nasional’s Mohd Rizwadi Ismail are battling it out for the state seat.
We report from time to time from the ground.
Rembia rep takes jab at Azizi
11.30am: Rembia assemblyperson Muhammad Jailani Khamis who joined PAS while on suspension from Umno has advised Nenggiri voters not to vote for candidates who "migrate" to other parties for allocation.
He’s referring to the former Bersatu member and incumbent for the state seat Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, who voiced support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Azizi is also Gua Musang MP.
Jailani (above) first won the Rembia seat on a PKR ticket during the 14th general election in 2018, and two years later defected to BN along with three others from Pakatan Harapan to form the new state government.
On July 16, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan announced that Jailani joined the party in June last year.
"Don't choose a candidate like the former Nenggiri representative who 'migrated' for allocation, which involves money.
"Maybe he (Azizi) found it hard to remain in the opposition that he switched sides for money," Berita Harian quotes Jailani as saying during a ceramah in Serian, Gua Musang, last night.
'I chose to retire early'
Perikatan Nasional candidate Mohd Rizwadi Ismail has denied quitting the Royal Malaysian Navy after committing an offence.
He says he had always intended to retire early.
"After completing my Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia, I joined the navy in 2003. In my 13 years of service, I was posted in Sabah, Lumut in Perak, and the last, in Pahang.
"When I was in Pahang, I decided to retire early, and I officially stopped my active service in January 2015," Harian Metro quotes Rizwadi as saying during a ceramah in Gua Musang, last night.
"However, on TikTok, some claim I quit early because I did something wrong. It's alright, it's them (accusers) who are sinned, while I get pahala (rewards)."
According to Rizwadi further, he got involved in preaching duties after returning home to Bertam Lama and is now the manager of a preaching centre in Gua Musang. -Mkini
