PETALING JAYA
Singapore’s immigration authority is expecting a high number of travellers entering Malaysia through the Johor-Singapore Causeway and the Second Link during the upcoming school holidays in the city-state.

Its immigration and checkpoints authority said heavy traffic is expected at both land crossings from Friday to Sept 8.

It advised travellers to be prepared to wait longer at the checkpoints, adding that they could alternatively make use of the cross-border bus services.

“During the recent (Singapore) national day long weekend from Aug 8 to 13, a record number of over 540,000 travellers crossed the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints on Aug 8.

Travellers in cars departing during these peak periods had to wait up to three hours before they were cleared through immigration, due to traffic tailback from Malaysia,
it said in a statement. - FMT
