The SkyCity tower being developed in i-City here is set to become a new landmark and an additional attraction for Shah Alam and the tourism sector in Selangor.

Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari said the 60m-tall tower will feature a 600m-long glass water slide, which will cost about RM15 million, and would enhance i-City’s appeal to domestic and foreign tourists.

“Based on the latest tourism data, i-City is one of the major attractions for visitors coming to Shah Alam.

i-City is listed as a tourism product for the Visit Selangor Year 2025 and I am confident the construction of SkyCity will be an additional factor in attracting more tourists to this smart city,
he told reporters after the groundbreaking ceremony. He was joined by Selangor i-City chairman Tengku Ahmad Shah Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah.

Meanwhile, Tengku Ahmad Shah said the tower is expected to be opened to the public on Dec 11, coinciding with the birthday of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

We believe that SkyCity will be the cherry on top of the cake. By offering unparalleled experiences, we are confident that i-City will draw five million visitors from around the globe next year, contributing significantly to the Visit Selangor 2025 campaign’s goal of attracting seven million tourists.

He also said the glass water slide would give visitors the experience of
