PETALING JAYA
Historians should make use of the vast trove of information held in the National Archives to fill gaps in the history syllabus followed by schools, says national unity minister Aaron Ago Dagang.

Aaron said the historical records and data preserved in the National Archives could enrich Malaysia’s historical records, but has yet to be fully utilised by historians.

Failure to make use of these records had inadvertently led to concerns about gaps in Malaysia’s historical documentation.

We need the National Archives to take a more proactive role. They possess a wealth of information that must be shared with the public,
 Bernama quoted him as saying.

To ensure a more comprehensive narrative of Malaysian history, Aaron said his ministry will host the Malaysian history convention on Sept 19, bringing together historical records and insights from various sources across Malaysia.

This convention will also serve as a platform to review and enhance the historical facts that have already been recorded. There may be gaps in how history is currently taught in schools, with some details being overlooked. We hope this convention will help us align with the extensive data preserved by the National Archives. - FMT
