Nga credits Madani govt for KL being named 'friendliest city'

Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming has shared a post which had Kuala Lumpur topping the “friendliest cities in Asia” list.

Describing it as “another good news”, the DAP leader heaped praises on Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and the Madani government.

“This is proof of the Anwar Ibrahim-led Madani government’s success,” he posted on X this morning.

He added that the present administration has always stressed “humanity, respect and courtesy” to serve as a guide for city dwellers.

The survey was published on the travel website, www.enjoytravel.com.

“Malaysians are naturally friendly and nice to strangers, and Kuala Lumpur is the best example of this.

“The easy-going temperament of locals and their friendliness towards visitors means that it’s easy to make friends here. KL is a top spot for both tourists and expats,” it read.

Survey pre-dates Anwar as PM

Although it is mentioned that the list was published “last year” above the article, a check by Malaysiakini revealed it was originally published on Sept 14, 2019, even before Anwar became prime minister.

However, the dateline printed on the article stated that it was published “a year ago”, making it possible that it was updated since then.

The ranking likely gained the minister’s attention when it was republished as an infographic by the Facebook page Asia Vibes in August.

Nga shared Asia Vibes’ infographic in his post on X.

Asian Vibes publishes infographics on various topics about Asian countries, like “Best cities for nightlife”, “20 best cities for food” or “Countries with the most Unesco world heritage sites in Southeast Asia”.
