No answer at Jamal's house, court bailiff unable to execute seizure

A court bailiff received no answer after ringing the doorbell of Umno leader Jamal Md Yunos’ home this morning.

As a result, DAP lawmaker Teresa Kok is now eyeing a civil court order to allow the bailiff to force entry into the house and execute the writ of seizure and sale linked to her defamation suit against the Sungai Besar Umno division chief.

The Seputeh MP’s counsel Sankara Nair told the media that the writ and seizure is linked to the RM50,000 in costs Jamal (above, left) owes her.

The lawyer explained that the court bailiff came calling upon Jamal’s home around 10.39am today, and received no response after ringing the doorbell several times.

The counsel added that there was no reply after the bailiff called out a few times outside Jamal’s house, and 15 minutes later the court official left the scene.

“The execution was unsuccessful as no one was at the premises at the time of the execution.

“The execution is adjourned pending the judgment creditor obtaining an order of court for forced entry,” the lawyer said.

RM300k in damages

On July 26, 2022, the Kuala Lumpur High Court ordered Jamal to pay RM300,000 in damages to Kok over the allegation that she misused funds from Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor.

The civil court had also ordered him to pay RM50,000 in costs, which was the subject matter of today’s attempted execution of the writ of seizure and sale.

The Court of Appeal and Federal Court upheld the outcome favouring Kok.

The suit centred Jamal’s remark during a news conference on March 8, 2017.

The following month, Kok filed a civil action over the allegation that she misused state government funds for herself. - Mkini
