The government is considering to end subsidies for chicken eggs if its supply stabilises, says agriculture and food security minister Mohamad Sabu.
Mohamad, also known as Mat Sabu, said savings from these subsidy cuts could be redirected to develop other critical agro-food sectors, Sinar Harian reported.
Therefore, in my opinion, it is time for the ministry to reevaluate the subsidy given for chicken eggs grade A, B and C,
he was quoted as saying in a speech during his ministry’s monthly assembly.
Last year, the government spent RM927 million on subsidies for chicken eggs.
