Cops take statements from 15 over Pinkfish deaths

PETALING JAYA: 

Police have recorded statements from 15 individuals, including family members and friends of the four people who died after attending the Pinkfish countdown event at Bandar Sunway, in Subang Jaya on Dec 31.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said they are waiting for the autopsy and toxicology reports to determine the cause of death.

Bernama quoted him as saying that based on information from University Malaya Medical Centre, two other victims who exhibited symptoms have regained consciousness but are still weak.

Based on their preliminary investigation, the four who died were suspected of consuming ecstasy.

Following the incident, the Pinkfish management said the safety of attendees and other stakeholders had always been their highest priority in holding the concert.

The management said it had taken precautionary measures, including having more than 100 policemen present as well as security personnel and K9 units at entry points.

They also pledged their full cooperation with the police investigation. - FMT
