21 RMAF officers to face court-martial over Subang ‘Yeye Culture’ allegations

TWENTY ONE Royal Malaysian Air Force officers will face court-martial in early March over allegations of bringing unauthorised women into Subang airbase for parties, linked to the so-called “yeye culture.”

RMAF chief General Norazlan confirmed investigations found misconduct only at Subang. Also, Defence Minister Khaled Nordin condemned the behaviour, stressing discipline and professionalism as core military values.

“The report has been completed. I have reviewed the report, and the RMAF’s legal department is examining the charges. I have been informed that the Military Court will convene in early March,” he was quoted as saying.

Allegations surfaced in January on social media claiming military personnel brought unauthorised civilians, including women, into bases for parties. An unverified video showed women at a bar in an officers’ mess.

Zhane, a 37-year-old teacher and ex-wife of an army captain, said her marriage collapsed after 18 months due to the “parti yeye” culture among military officers.

Married in 2012, she suspected her husband’s habits early on but chose to give him a chance to avoid embarrassment.

Authorities reiterated such actions violate military orders and do not reflect RMAF’s culture. Note that these allegations first surfaced on social media in January. —Focus Malaysia
