Ustaz goes viral for kidnapping, abandoning neighbours’ cats

CATS, unlike other animals in the animal kingdom, are such multifaceted creatures. They can be such lovable creatures, providing valuable companionship to humans on one hand, and being such a pest on the other.

So we are unsurprised to hear news about people complaining about cats defecating on their porch or lawn. Usually, the answer to this problem is a bucket of water or diplomatic communication between the neighbours.

But when these two options turn into dead ends, expect the worst to happen. Take it from netizen @MirulAm05674851 who highlighted in a post where a man decided to catch the neighbour’s cat and abandon it somewhere, far, far away.

He made another mistake and it was recording his action in a video and posting it online for public viewing.  The video, of course, went viral and he now faced condemnation from a great number of netizens.

“Pray that he gets sent into hell the same way he threw and hurt the cat,” said @thirtyoneyea while netizen @izadsyah hoped his children would leave him by the side of the road when he grows old.

“With this case, can we make a report to the police?” said @AmloformineAnother netizen pointed out that solid evidence had been given. Apparently, under the Animal Welfare Act 2015, he was liable for a fine up to RM100,000 or jail time up to three years, or both.

But @CryformeKL said cats are one of the invasive species. On another note, @RajaHaziq213 believes such acts should not be recorded and placed on the social media platform.

We sincerely disagree. The culture of recording one’s crime and uploading it on the social media should be encouraged. The world will be a better place when the criminals provide the necessary evidence to place themselves behind bars. —Focus Malaysia
