Is Dr Sam’s “non-Malay lit” academic prowess, no ex-convict b/ground good enough to make him PM11?

PERHAPS PAS’ strategic compromise to appoint technocrat Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar a.k.a. Dr Sam as the new Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman – a shift from its cleric domination mentality – will bear fruits given his calm leadership style backed by non-Malay literature academic prowess in aeronautical engineering,

Despite renowned political commentator Prof James Chin taunting the Islamist party that with PAS taking over the reins of the opposition coalition from Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, non-Malays will have no choice but to support Pakatan Harapan (PH), diehard PAS backers beg to differ.

They are over the moon that PAS has finally found a young and vibrant PM11 candidate who is capable of unseating Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and even DPM Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi should outcome of the 16th General Election (GE16) favours PAS.

“Next PM! Change to a younger PM with an Engineering background! Definitely A!,” so screamed one Puteri Sonah in a poll pitting the PAS vice-president and Kemaman MP with “Malay literature graduates” PMX who will turn 79 in 2026 and the 73-year-old Zahid who is also the Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman.

So confident are the PAS folks till one cynical commenter on the Friends Of PAS Original® Facebook page even touted that both the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman and UMNO president “need not be thrown into the river or thrash bin but just enrol them in therapeutic human character-building class to correct their religious values as a Muslim”.

Some even mooted the idea that suffice to dump the duo in Sungai Buloh prison.

Another seemingly rational PAS supporter contended that Dr Sam is his PM choice for “he’s not involved in any bad moral cases, abuse of power in terms of law and isn’t a former prisoner”.

“The basis of his struggle is to protect the interests of the Malay race in accordance with the Federal Constitution which recognises Islam as the federal religion,” justified the commenter.

Others reckoned that although Dr Sam’s political experience dwarfs that of PMX and Zahid, he possesses “special qualities, skills and good leadership while the latter two lack noble characters and tend to engage in sembang kosong (empty talk)”.

As the glorification of Dr Sam continues on the PAS Youth FB page, many learned PAS backers corrected the view of one presumably non-Muslim netizen who was impressed that “finally PAS have someone with multiple anugerah (awards) and I believe maybe only one like Dr Sam”.

“There’re many (other) candidates with good academics, studied abroad and have a good work background but they prefer to stay behind the scenes … actions are louder than words,” enlightened one follower.

This is where some pro-Madani backers expressed doubts if whether a person can be deemed as being PM material based on his “powerful biodata @ CV (curriculum vitae)”.

Perhaps the most hilarious attempt to undermine Dr Sam is that “he’s better off being a PM of Mars given his aeronautical academic prowess”
