The 26-year-old pleaded guilty in a Kuching court to consuming the drug earlier this year.

Dayak Daily reported that the charge was framed under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a fine of up to RM5,000, imprisonment of up to two years or both upon conviction.
The plea was recorded before senior assistant registrar Fauzi Acho.
According to the facts of the case, the man was detained at the Sarawak police headquarters’ narcotics crime investigation department on Jan 1 after being apprehended earlier in Kota Samarahan on suspicion of drug abuse.
An initial urine test returned positive for drugs, which was later confirmed by the chemistry department to be ketamine.
The court also ordered the man to be placed under police supervision for two years after completing his sentence.
The man claimed in mitigation that he smoked a cigarette given by a friend and suspected it was laced with an illicit substance.
Deputy public prosecutor Chuah Kai Sheng handled the prosecution. - FMT
