Hamzah hints at new political ‘movement’ for Melaka polls

 The opposition leader declines to give details, simply saying an announcement would be made at the right time.

Opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin said his ‘movement’ is seeing growing support from former Bersatu leaders and members.

 Opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin has hinted that a new political movement being mobilised by him will contest in the next Melaka state election.

Claiming growing support from former Bersatu leaders and members, Hamzah said taking part in the state polls was important as Melaka needed leaders with a clear vision for its future.

“The people will know how to assess who is better,” he said at a press conference after an Aidilfitri event in Melaka today.

Hamzah again remained tight-lipped on the details of this new “movement”, simply saying an announcement would be made at the right time.

He also sidestepped queries on the possibility of joining PAS following his recent statement about joining a party “already in Perikatan Nasional”.

He nonetheless said he would prefer to join an existing party than register a new entity.

Following his sacking from Bersatu in February, Hamzah had confirmed talks about taking over a relatively unknown party called Parti Keluarga Malaysia.

However, it later emerged that the party had yet to be registered as its initial application was rejected in 2022.

Since then, Hamzah has alluded to ditching plans to take over the party, but he has yet to confirm this. -FMT
