Khairy back in Umno

 The decision to approve the former youth chief's application to rejoin the party was made at a Supreme Council meeting in Melaka.

Former youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin was sacked from Umno in January 2023 following disciplinary action linked to the 15th general election.

PETALING JAYA:

 Umno has approved the return of former Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin. Supreme Council member Puad Zarkashi confirmed the decision to FMT following the party’s leadership meeting held in Melaka tonight.

Last month, Khairy had submitted his letter of appeal to return to the party. He was sacked in January 2023 following disciplinary action linked to the 15th general election.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi previously said the party’s doors were “unconditionally” open to former members, and that all mistakes and differences would be “forgiven”.

Former vice-president Hishammuddin Hashim is among those who are believed to have submitted membership applications following Zahid’s initiative. - FMT
