RON97 drops 20 sen, unsubsidised RON95 down 15 sen

The price of diesel in Peninsular Malaysia will also be lower by 10 sen from tomorrow, with these prices effective until June 3.

PETALING JAYA:
The prices of RON97 petrol, unsubsidised RON95 and diesel in Peninsular Malaysia will all be reduced from tomorrow, the finance ministry announced today.

RON97 will fall by 20 sen from RM4.85 per litre to RM4.65 per litre, while unsubsidised RON95 will be priced at RM3.92 per litre, down by 15 sen from RM4.07 per litre.

Diesel in Peninsular Malaysia will also drop by 10 sen, from RM4.97 per litre to RM4.87 per litre.

RON95 sold under the BUDI95 scheme will continue to cost RM1.99 per litre while diesel in East Malaysia remains fixed at RM2.15 per litre.

Subsidised petrol under the subsidised petrol control system (SKPS) will remain at RM2.05 per litre, while subsidised diesel under the subsidised diesel control system (SKDS) will remain at RM2.15 per litre.

These prices are effective until June 3.

In a statement, the finance ministry urged Malaysians to plan their journeys more efficiently and cut unnecessary travel to help conserve national fuel reserves amid continued global supply uncertainty.

It is said that conditions remain fragile, with Brent crude prices still about US$100 per barrel, more than 50% above pre-conflict levels of US$60 to US$70.

“This reduction does not signal that pressure on global petroleum markets has eased,” the ministry said, citing ongoing uncertainty tied to the conflict now in its 12th week. - FMT
