PETALING JAYA: A weak earthquake measuring 2.9 on the Richter scale struck Kundasang in Ranau, Sabah, at 10.36am on Tuesday (June 2), according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
The department said the earthquake occurred at coordinates 6.1 degrees North and 116.6 degrees East, about 15km northwest of Ranau.
The quake was recorded at a depth of 10km.
“Tremors may be felt in several areas in Sabah,” the department said in a statement on Tuesday.
MetMalaysia said it would continue to monitor the situation.
Members of the public who felt the tremors have been urged to complete a survey form provided by the department to assist in its assessment and monitoring efforts.
