Here is the most likely outcome of the DAP's special assembly (extra-ordinary meeting) scheduled for July 2026.
The DAP will decide to stay with the PH coalition.
All DAP held positions in government and statutory bodies shall remain intact.
Why do I think so?
JOHOR BAHRU, June 1 — Johor DAP has clarified that the party had offered to appoint incumbent (DAP) Skudai assemblyman Marina Ibrahim to helm a statutory body and not a government-linked company (GLC) as seen in a letter that went viral.
(You can refer this link for one of those letters but I cannot vouch for the accuracy - CLICK HERE).
- Johor DAP said there is a difference in a statutory body and a GLC.
- Johor DAP chairman Teo Nie Ching had stated that she offered Marina to lead a statutory body and not a GLC.
- “In this recent issue, Teo had offered Marina to helm a statutory body that is related to social welfare work.
Oh I see. So its not to helm a GLC but to helm a statutory body.
But so what? What is the difference?
Regardless whether its the head of a GLC or head of a Statutory body the lucky person will be paid a nice salary - using taxpayers money. Possibly there will be a car provided, with a driver. All paid with taxpayer's money.
Here is ChatGpt: Political patronage is a practice in which politicians or political parties give government jobs, contracts, or other benefits to individuals or groups in exchange for their support, loyalty, or votes. In simpler terms, it’s like a “you support me, I reward you” system in politics.
