PETALING JAYA:
The Seremban High Court has allowed the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) and its secretary to begin committal proceedings against six people for allegedly breaching an interim injunction issued on June 5.

Justice Roz Mawar Rozain made the ruling after hearing the application through video conference on July 7 and 8, Sinar Harian reported.

The court found that the defendants – the DKU and its secretary, Raja Norazli Raja Nordin – had established a prima facie case to seek leave to begin contempt proceedings against six plaintiffs.

They are former Sungai Ujong undang Mubarak Dohak, Jelebu undang Maarof Mat Rashid, Johol undang Muhammed Abdullah, Rembau undang Abdul Rahim Yasin, Tunku Besar Tampin Tunku Syed Razman Syed Idrus Al Qadri, and Sungai Ujong syahbandar Baharudin Abdul Khalid.

Under the injunction, they are barred from holding, calling, continuing or attending any DKU meeting, including a proposed special sitting announced on June 5.

They are also prohibited from suspending, removing or interfering with the DKU secretary in carrying out his duties under the Negeri Sembilan constitution.

The plaintiffs are further barred from forming or appointing any committee or individual to take over the powers and functions of the DKU secretary, acting or issuing statements on behalf of DKU, making or implementing decisions relating to DKU’s administration, governance and affairs, or taking any action that would alter or disrupt the status quo as it stood before May 21.

In the same judgment, the court dismissed the plaintiffs’ application to stay the committal proceedings.

The court fixed July 28 for the hearing of the substantive application.

The plaintiffs were represented by lawyers Tuan Awang Armadajaya Awang Mahmud, Mohammed Rhiza Ghazi, Firoz Hussein, Woo J Enn, Asmawi Ismail and Emirul Sarifudin Nor Azmi.

The DKU and Raja Norazli were represented by Steven Thiru, Shafrin Halim and Gurjeevan Singh Sachdev. - FMT
