Adi Azuan Abdul Ghani claims trial to receiving RM8,882.77 in renovation costs for a house nine years ago.
Adi, 56, made the plea before judge Suzana Hussin.
The charge was framed under Section 165 of the Penal Code, which makes it an offence for a public servant to obtain valuables without consideration. Those found guilty can be jailed for up to two years and fined.
According to the charge, Adi, who was then TH’s COO, received valuable items in the form of renovation costs for a house in Jalan Tanjung SD 13/4, Bandar Sri Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, from AG Reka Sdn Bhd director Thamsulazri Ismail.
The offence was allegedly committed on March 7, 2017.
The court also granted an application by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy public prosecutor Irna Julieza Maaras for the case to be transferred to the Shah Alam sessions court, to be tried together with the other three charges against Adi.
Suzana granted bail of RM50,000 with two sureties and ordered Adi to surrender his passport to the court. He is also required to report to the MACC office in Putrajaya once every three months.
Adi was represented by Wan Azwan Aiman Wan Fakhruddin.
He was slapped with similar charges at the Shah Alam sessions court yesterday over renovation costs totalling RM302,499.27 for three houses nine years ago. - FMT
