PAS denies Rafizi's charge, tells him to lodge MACC report

PAS has denied PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli's claim that an individual close to the Islamist party had received 1MDB funds.
In dismissing the allegation, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan told the Pandan lawmaker to file a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) if he has evidence.
"He (Rafizi) has to ask the person who received the funds, PAS has not received any such funds.
"There is no need for Rafizi to make challenges, the best way is for him to lodge a report with MACC and submit the evidence to them for the matter to be investigated.
"As far as I know, no such funds were received. If there were, I as secretary-general, would know about it," he told Malaysiakini.
At a press conference in Parliament this afternoon, Rafizi had challenged PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang to respond to the allegation.
The PKR leader, who claimed that the funds were from Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's bank account, also vowed to reveal more details on the matter soon.
Meanwhile, Takiyuddin said if there is information about the funds, PAS would initiate a probe and if there was a case, the matter would be left to the authorities to investigate.
"I have no information or knowledge about this," he added.
Responding to a question, Takiyuddin said he was shocked by Rafizi's accusation and is in the dark about the latter's motive.
"I don't understand (Rafizi's motive). I feel that Rafizi is not such a person. I am shocked as well.
"I have not heard it (the allegation) from his mouth, or how he conveyed it. So I cannot comment more on this except in a general manner," he added.

PAS is in the midst of taking legal action against whistleblower website Sarawak Report and its former vice-president Husam Musa over insinuations that the party received RM90 million from Najib.
The prime minister, on the other hand, has repeatedly denied abusing public funds for personal gain.
Attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali has also cleared the prime minister of any wrongdoing and confirmed that the RM2.6 billion in his personal accounts was a donation from a Saudi royalty.- Mkini
