Has former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad turned to the supernatural in predicting the fall of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak?
This was the question posed by Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak who wondered if there was any hard evidence to back the prediction.
"Mahathir said Najib is going to fall in the next general election. Is this based on a scientific study such as a poll or based on tea leaves reading?" he said.
The minister said this in a posting on his blog today.
Salleh said the reality was that the opposition is in disarray and not able to challenge the ruling coalition.
"The opposition is in such a mess that the voters do not see any alternative to the present government.
"What the voters want is economic and political stability and this is what the government is offering," he said.
Salleh said "fabricated allegations" would not be enough to bring down the prime minister.
The minister appeared to make reference to a letter of demand sent by the prime minister to Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua demanding that he retract his statement made in a video.
The letter claimed that Pua had implied the prime minister had committed theft and abuse of power in relation to the 1MDB scandal.
"We shall see how Tony Pua, who is a member of the Public Accounts Committee, defends his latest allegation in court.
"That will determine whether all those allegations were true or not," he said.- Mkini
