Come clean over London apartment, Saifuddin Nasution tells Tok Mat

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan should respond to the allegations concerning his purchase of a RM10mil London apartment, says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.  

''Just come clean if you have nothing to hide,'' said the PKR secretary-general.  

He was asked to comment on an issue raised by Pakatan Harapan candidate for the Rantau by-election Dr S. Streram.  

Dr Streram had asked Mohamad - the Barisan Nasional candidate - to explain how he was able to purchase the luxury apartment 11 years ago when he was the Negri Sembilan mentri besar.  

In his response, Mohamad said he did not own a luxury bungalow in Seremban and had labelled Dr Streram "stupid" for asking such a question.  

On Mohamad's remark, Saifuddin said that Dr Streram was merely asking Mohamad to explain and did not accuse him.  

"Mohamad was being defensive. The issue was not about the candidate asking stupid questions.

"The onus is on Mohamad to come clean," he said after opening a campus food aid programme at Universiti Malaya here Tuesday (April 9).  

Meanwhile, Saifuddin said he was optimistic that Pakatan had a chance in the Rantau by-election despite being seen as an ''underdog''.  

''As the incumbent, he (Mohamad) is well-known among the voters and we must not underestimate his capabilities. We know where we are lacking in the rural areas and we are now more focused," said Saifuddin.- Star
