The MACC today arrested a former special officer to a minister under the previous government for alleged kickbacks received in exchange for contracts.
The 50-year-old "Datuk" was arrested after he presented himself at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya at noon, according to a source familiar with the investigation.
Investigators believe the suspect had received bribes from a number of businesses in exchange for granting them procurement contracts through direct negotiations in 2017.
This includes the supply of aviation equipment amounting to around RM1.8 million.
When contacted, MACC deputy commissioner (operations) Azam Baki confirmed the arrest.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009 which deal with the giving or receiving of gratifications. - Mkini
