Amanah Youth has lodged a report with the MACC on former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Mohamad Hasan's admission that he bought an apartment in London for RM10 million.
Negeri Sembilan Amanah Youth deputy chief Shahrizal Masrudin, who lodged the report at the state MACC headquarters today, urged the authorities to investigate the source of Mohamad's "extraordinary wealth".
"We are shocked by the admission of Tok Mat (as Mohamad is fondly known, photo above), who is also the BN candidate for the Rantau by-election.
"This is because the transfer of the money (RM10 million) was not done according to normal procedures.
"We have doubts regarding the source of the cash, especially since it was paid out only four years after Mohamad was appointed menteri besar," Shahrizal told reporters.
He further challenged Mohamad to declare his wealth before voting for the Rantau by-election is held on April 13.
The issue of Mohamad transferring the money to London, via a money changer in 2008, was recently revived by Negeri Sembilan state assembly speaker Zulkefly Mohamad Omar while on the Rantau by-election campaign trail.
Mohamad, who is also acting Umno president, has denied any wrongdoing and said that the money was to purchase an apartment in London.
He was probed by the authorities, but was later cleared by the Attorney-General's Chambers under the BN government, which said the RM10 million was not a product of corruption. - Mkini
