JOHOR BARU: The Pakatan Harapan government could not fulfil all its manifesto promises from the last general election as the previous administration left the nation almost bankrupt, says Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president said the present government did not have the ability to fulfil all its promises as the country was on the brink of bankruptcy.
"It is not that we want to blame the previous government but we inherited an administration that was almost bankrupt … our resources are limited and we have to refocus our priorities.
"We are not looking for excuses because we understand what the rakyat needs.
"Give us time. It is not that we don't want to do it but we cannot afford to do it," he said.
Muhyiddin was speaking at the launch of a book about Bersatu titled "Mulanya di sini... Johor Baru (It Begins Here... Johor Baru)" at a hotel here on Sunday (April 28).- Star
