Bersatu leader urges govt to axe political appointees after defections to PBM

A Bersatu leader has urged the government to axe political appointees who are not members of Perikatan Nasional, BN or GPS.

This after several Bersatu members defected to join Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM).

Bersatu supreme council member Muhammad Faiz Na'aman (above) said the purge is to avoid sabotage from those who are not in the government.

"Any political appointees who are proven to not be from PN, BN, or GPS, (the ministers) must end their contracts immediately or ask them to resign voluntarily.

"This will deter any likelihood of sabotage or being used by outsiders who are not with the government," Faiz said in a statement today.

He added that any GLC office bearers who were appointed in their capacity as Bersatu members must also resign if they have left the party.

Most members formerly from PKR

Several Bersatu leaders, including two assemblypersons, were announced as PBM officeholders today.

Among those who defected from Bersatu was former PKR leader Zakaria Abdul Hamid, who is currently the Finas chairperson.

Another notable political appointee in PBM is party president Larry Sng, who is Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) chairperson.

The party's deputy president Haniza Talha is the Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) chairperson.

Sng and Haniza were also former PKR members. However, they did not join Bersatu, although Sng - who is the Julau MP - is supporting the government.

Most of PBM's members were formerly with PKR and aligned to Azmin Ali and Zuraida Kamaruddin, and had followed them to join Bersatu.

Speculation is rife that Azmin and Zuraida may also make the jump to PBM.

PBM is currently considering joining BN, which is led by Bersatu's rival Umno. - Mkini
