Cops to refer lawyer's report against Health DG, minister to MOH

Kuantan police will refer a report lodged by lawyer and mother-of-ten Asiah Abdul Jalil against Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah to the Health Ministry.

When contacted, Kuantan district police chief Mohamad Noor Yusof Ali confirmed receiving Asiah's report which was lodged yesterday.

According to Mohamad Noor, the police would refer the matter to the Health Ministry.

"There is no offence (committed) under PDRM, (so) we will refer (it) to the Health Ministry.

"It is her right to lodge a police report," Mohamad Noor told Malaysiakini.

Asiah yesterday said her report was lodged at Kuantan district police station to record her objection for a booster dose to be administered to her children aged between 12 and 19, as well as the first dose for the ones aged between five and 11.

Asiah said she will also consider filing legal actions under "tort of misfeasance in public office" against Khairy and Noor Hisham once the required elements of loss, damages or violation of rights have been established.

Conditional approval

According to her police report sighted by Malaysiakini, Asiah's four eldest children aged 14, 16, 17 and 19 have completed two doses of Covid-19 vaccine, while her fifth child, aged 13, is waiting for his second dose.

Asiah's sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth children are aged 11, nine, seven and five, while her youngest son is two years' old.

Following her report, Asiah said she was contacted by an investigating officer from IPD Kuantan who requested to record her statement on her objection to vaccines being given to children.

Her report follows Noor Hisham's announcement on Thursday that the Drug Control Authority (DCA) has granted conditional approval a low-concentration version of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine for children aged five to 11 years old

Khairy, meanwhile, said his deputy Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali - who previously headed the vaccination programme for adolescents - will also lead the vaccine rollout for children. - Mkini
