PETALING JAYA: The water level at Sungai Langat in Bukit Changgang has exceeded the danger level (red) again, showing a reading of 4.29m as of this morning.
Based on information available on the InfoBanjir website, it exceeded the 4.20m level at 8am, according to a Harian Metro report.
The river last crossed its danger level seven days ago, causing some flooding in nearby areas.
Meanwhile, the river’s measuring point in Dengkil, Sepang, has exceeded the caution level (orange), reaching 7.07m, which is above the normal reading of 6.90m.
“Three other rivers in Selangor have exceeded the alert level (yellow), which includes Sungai Klang hitting 2.47m.
“The Sungai Langat stretch at the JPS Sungai Manggis point is at 2.22m and the sluice gate of Kampung Teluk Pulau is at 1.33m, both in Kuala Langat district,” according to the report.
Yesterday, Selangor fire and rescue services director Norazam Khamis confirmed that 16 individuals from six families were evacuated after their homes in Kampung Sungai Nangka, Banting, were flooded following continuous rain and high water tide.
He said his department received an emergency call at 7.30pm alerting them of the flooding in the village, as the water level rose to 0.6m.
He added that as of 10.30pm, 16 of the evacuees, comprising 13 adults, including three senior citizens, and three children, had been moved to the flood relief centre at the Sri Langat hall, while other victims opted to stay with their relatives. - FMT
